Body Punctuation
Call out a punctuation mark and have students take turns finding it on the mat and then making the mark with theiir bodies. (Could work in pairs.)
Types of Sentences
When studying types of sentences, use this mat to reinforce what punctuation ends each kind of sentence. Name a type of sentence and have students take turns hopping to its punctuation mark on the mat. (Interrogative, exclamatory, imperative, declarative)
Prime Hop

Have students jump down the mat while calling out each prime number. You can have the whole class participate by having them stand along the long edges of the mat and call out the numbers with the student who is hopping.
Make Groups

Have students place the corresponding number of objects onto each square on the mat. Then, challenge students to make that number of objects into equal groups of any number. After a few tries, discuss that it can’t be done. Hence, these are called prime numbers.
Prime Factoring

Combine this mat with factoring problems. Have students find their factors on this mat. If they are not there, explain that it means that they can be factored more to find the number’s prime factors.
Identify Primes

After students are familiar with the prime numbers, have them then challenge themselves to see who can remember the most by finding them on a hundreds chart. They can check themselves by referring to the mat.
Tic-Tac-Toe

Have students use the mat to complete the prime number hop worksheet provided.
Find the Prefix/base word

Have students jump on each space saying aloud the word/s on each. On each space, ask them what the base word is in each word. Then have them identify the prefix in each word.
Prefix Fix
After hopping the mat and getting familiar with the words and prefixes have them toss a bean bag onto the mat, jump down to the space it landed on, identify the prefix and come up with as many words as they can that have that prefix.
