Print the numeral cards found on the following pages (or create your own!). Have students match the numerals with their corresponding box on the floor mat. If you have plastic numbers, you could also put them into a hat or box and have students select a number and match it on the mat.
Clip a worksheet that helps students learn the sight words to a clipboard. Have students hop on the mat to solve the worksheet. The worksheet could include words or numbers they need to copy from the mat. Seven =_____ (have them find the word on the mat and then write the correct numeral)

Counting backward is a prerequisite for subtraction. Encourage your student to start on ten and take steps to zero while saying the numbers and the fruits!
Have your students pretend you are on a rocket ready for blast-off. Have one student start on the 10 and hop down the mat as the whole class counts down with them. “10, 9, 8, 7, …2, 1, blast-off!” Have your students jump up and clap while saying “blast-off!”
Have students count the fruits on each square aloud, making sure they are counting one fruit for each number they say. When they have counted every fruit on a square they jump up and shout the number and the fruit!
Write addition and subtraction problems on index cards and have your students use the number line to help them solve the problems.
