Jump To

The teacher will say a word on the mat, and the student is to jump to that word, and repeat what the word is. Make sure that students take their time, and encourage them to start over if they rush through it.
Identify the Word

The teacher will spell a word on the mat for students to hear. Students will then jump to the word that the teacher spelled. Have students say and then repeat the spelling back to you.
Synonym/Antonym

The teacher will say or write on the board a synonym or an antonym that goes with a word on the mat. The student will then jump to the word that matches that synonym or antonym and say the word aloud.

Have the student begin on START HERE. Have the student read the first word. Have them hop on the word while simultaneously saying the word. Be sure that your student says the words correctly. Word Match
Create word cards that match the color words on the Color Word Hop Floor Mat. Put words in a pile and mix up the pile. Have students match the word cards with the words on the Color Word Hop Floor Mat by placing the word card on or beside the word on the floor mat.
Bean Bag Decides
Have a student toss a bean bag onto the mat. Be sure the bean bag lands on one word. Hop to the bean bag alternating between one-footed and two-footed hops. Pick up the bean bag and say the word underneath the bean bag.
I Spy
Have a student toss a bean bag onto the mat. The student will jump to the space on the mat with the beanbag. Then, the student will ‘spy’ something in the room that is that color. The other students will take turns guessing what that object is.
Clipboard Word Fun
Clip a worksheet that helps students learn the color words. Have the student hop on the mat to solve the worksheet.
Mad Word Hatter
