Q&A: Summer Learning

Interested in Using Math & Movement this Summer? Here are some of the top questions we get to help you out!

In summer programs, every minute counts. Movement-based learning helps students focus better and learn faster by stimulating brain chemicals essential for concentration and learning. Plus, kids love to move—and they need to! It keeps them engaged, improves retention, and makes the most of your limited time.

Just 20 minutes! Our movement-based activities are designed to seamlessly fit into even the busiest schedules.

Simply choose from one of our Summer Learning Kits, or build your own kit with the core math or literacy concepts you want students to cover this summer. Then, set a training date for professional development (PD) for your staff, and you’re ready to go!

We offer both virtual and in-person training options! Teachers and summer learning staff can choose from a range of activities available in our online database. Our materials come with free activities, no additional software purchases needed!

Incorporating movement-based learning boosts student engagement, improves focus, and enhances knowledge retention. Plus, it makes learning more enjoyable and interactive, creating a memorable experience for students.

Our research shows impressive results. In a study at a Title I school in Sarasota, the achievement gap between the highest- and lowest-performing students narrowed by over 81%. Even more impressive, all students experienced an average math score increase of 89% after just 10 days of using the program.

Yes, it’s incredibly easy! Our kits are designed to seamlessly integrate movement-based learning into your existing program. Whether you’re enhancing current lessons or building new ones, our activities are flexible, engaging, and easy to implement.

You only need 20 minutes! Our activities are designed to be quick, effective, and adaptable, making them perfect for even the busiest schedules.

Our Summer Learning Kits were created with 4 and 6-week K-5 summer programs in mind. We selected math floor mats that cover many essential learning objectives to help students build their mathematic foundations. We have three Summer Learning Kit options based on the amount of materials you would like. Any of these kits can be used throughout your whole summer learning program. Check out our Summer Learning Guide for an idea of how stations can be set up to teach different skills.

If you are looking for single grade-level options, our Classroom Kits can also be used in summer learning programs.

If you are looking for literacy options, check out our K-2 and 3-5 Literacy Kits.

If you are looking for a kit with more than one of each mat, check out our K-2 Math Kit and 3-5 Math Kit. These kits were designed for a whole school learning plan. We have extra mats for core math concepts in grades K-2 and 3-5. This allows teachers to have some of their own mats and keep them in their classroom.

Summer Learning Kits – The materials in each kit were designed with 4 and 6-week K-5 summer programs in mind. These kits are similar in content to our math kits but only include one of each of the materials.

Classroom KitsThese kits include materials for the concepts taught at an individual grade level. For example, the Kindergarten Math Kit includes materials that would cover concepts taught in Kindergarten.

K-2 and 3-5 Math KitsThese are our most comprehensive math kits that are best for entire schools. They include multiple of many of the mats so more than one teacher can use the same material on the same day.

K-2 and 3-5 Literacy KitsOur sole literacy kit option. Our other kits only include math materials. These kits include our top literacy floor mats for each grade group.

Yes! We understand that every school’s needs are different. You can absolutely purchase individual mats to complement your existing resources or expand your current collection.

Absolutely! While we don’t offer a full curriculum, we do provide access to an extensive activity database that includes detailed guides, learning objectives, and fun, hands-on activities. You can easily tailor these resources to fit your program’s goals and timelines.

Definitely! Our kits are designed to be flexible. Whether your program runs for two weeks or two months, you can easily customize the activities to fit your timeframe and learning objectives.

While we don’t provide a ready-made, day-by-day plan, our activity database includes a wide range of activities that can be mixed and matched to create a unique and engaging learning experience. We’re happy to provide guidance on how to build a cohesive program based on your specific needs.

Absolutely! While our Summer Learning Kits are designed to make summer programs engaging and effective, they are also perfect for after-school programs, classroom enrichment, or even special events throughout the school year.

Our kits are designed to be compact and easy to store. Whether you’re working with limited space or a large storage area, you’ll find our kits convenient to pack away and reuse whenever needed
