The Math & Movement Training Manual
Do your students have so much energy that it’s hard for them to sit still? Children are naturally active learners, using their bodies along with their minds to practice and acquire new skills. Math &ย Movement is a supplemental program that harnesses children’s natural desire to move and gives them more opportunities to practice math skills until mastery is achieved.
Math &ย Movement is a kinesthetic, multi-sensory approach to teaching math that incorporates physical exercise, stretching, and cross-body movements. This manual includes over 250 movements for the six Math &ย Movement categories: Active Math-Whisper/Loud, Active Math-Skip Counting, Sit-Down Math, Tapping at the Table, Hallway Math, and Math n’ Yoga.
Over 85 activities for the Math &ย Movement floor mats and banners are included as well as techniques using Math &ย Movement to recharge your students during a mental break or transition times.
The magic of the Math & Movement program is that children become so engaged, they forget they are practicing math! Math & Movement strengthens numeracy and literacy and energizes students and teachers. This program fits into transition times, allows children to exceed state standards, integrates core subjects, and offers children the opportunity to love learning math. Math & Movement is appropriate for pre-K through fifth grade or any student lacking math confidence.

Marcia Wade –
This a must have for all elementary teachers! It contains over a hundred active math movements that can be used in the classroom and doesn’t require any equipment. This was the first thing I bought when I found out about the program and I was able to begin using the program immediately!
Maggie Hershey-Mason –
I used the Math and Movement Training Manual with my first grade class. Every day I would use 1 or 2 activities from the book to practice various skills outlined in the Common Core State Standards. My students enjoyed getting up to move and count – and it energized them before beginning the next lesson. Sometimes I used the activities to begin our math period, and other times I would use the activities to transition from one lesson to another, or to even begin our school day together! The book provides short, simple, and effective movements to help children enjoy and learn math.
