Activity Instructions

Place a second and a third letter on the floor mat. Lay down letter cards on the floor that would be good options for the first letter of your word. Have a student throw a bean bag on the letter cards on the floor. They will select the letter card that the bean bag lands on and place it as the first letter on the floor mat. Then, have the student sound out the word, using the Make-A-Word Hop activity for instructions.

Example:
Leave the first block blank. Place โ€˜Aโ€™ on the second box and โ€˜Tโ€™ on the third block. The student tosses the bean bag and it lands on โ€˜C.โ€™ The student will place the โ€˜Cโ€™ on the first block and sound out โ€œcat.โ€
