Activity Instructions

To help students recognize letter sounds in a spelling word, lay all of the letter cards that spell out a word on the floor. Have your students step on each letter card while saying all of the sounds that the letter can make. For example, ‘c’ sounds are /s/ and /k/. Be sure that your students say the sound correctly. Tell your students the sound if they do not immediately know the sound. Continue until the students are familiar with the sounds of that specific letter.
