Activity Instructions

Ask a few students to stand on their favorite words. Direct them to travel in a random direction using a specific type of locomotor movement when you say, “GO.” They are to keep moving until you say, “FREEZE!” At that point, each student says the word he/she is standing on 5x while jumping on it. Change the type of locomotor movement and give them another turn. Change students and continue the game. Examples of locomotor movements are walking, jogging, jumping (2 feet), hopping (1 foot), leaping (1 foot to the other foot), skipping, galloping, and sliding.
