Multiplication factor games for 4th grade with movement!

Understanding what factors in multiplication are can be challenging for young mathematicians. Our Factor Fun Hop helps make the relationship between factors and products in multiplication clear. Introduce movement-based factor games to your 4th grade class that will help them learn while having fun!

The Factor Fun Hop features a 3 by 3 factor grid. Sixty number cards are included with the floor mat. Use dry-erase markets with the laminated floor mat. Drill multiplication by first placing numbers (factors) in the horizontal and vertical rows of boxes. Then, place the number that is the product of the two factors in the box where they intersect on the grid! Each box is labeled for factor or product cards.

This material has plenty of space for multiple students to interact with it at one time. Promote a collaborative learning environment for students practicing multiplication.

Students will have a better understanding of how factors and products relate to each other. This is a result of moving their bodies around this material. Furthermore, they will be well-prepared for more advanced multiplication and division problems.

Materials: Our floor mats are made from heavy-duty vinyl. They are easy to clean, durable, and long-lasting. Some teachers have used their mats for over 10 years!  Laminated Floor Mats combine the power of our heavy-duty vinyl material with dry-erase laminate. The laminate works well with a dry-erase marker and can be cleaned easily.

Includes: 3 x 3 factor grid mat. Regular floor mat includes 60 number cards.

*Note: Dry-erase mats are not slip-resistant. Place the mats in safe, non-high-traffic areas.

Sample Activity: Factoring

• Place a number in the first product space. For example, 12.
• Then, have students find two numbers that can be multiplied together to get a product of 12.
• Add more 12s to the product square if they can find more than one set of factors.
• When finished, have students read the factors starting from smallest to largest (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12).
• Repeat with a different product.
