How to teach money to kids the fun way!

Teaching money to kids can be an energetic, hands-on lesson full of movement! Try teaching money to with a kinesthetic activity on our Money Hop. The Money Hop names and depicts a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar, one dollar bill, five dollar bill, and ten dollar bill. The relative value of each item in cents is also shown. At 38 inches wide and 84 inches long, kids can clearly see each coin and bill. It also allows multiple students to participate in money activities at once!

The bold colors and kid-friendly text will engage any visual learner. Furthermore, seeing the name of each coin and bill spelled out on the material will help students solve word problems with money. This will further help them improve their reading comprehension and letter recognition.

Materials: Our floor mats are made from heavy-duty vinyl material, making them easy to clean, durable, and long-lasting. Some teachers have used their mats for over 10 years. Each sticker is 6.4 mm thick and laminated for extra protection. Our stickers are made with the latest advancements in 3M adhesive technology so applications are easy, quick, and hassle-free. Each carpet sticker is 6.6 mm thick and laminated for extra protection. For best results, install stickers on short nap/low pile carpets.

Sample Activity: Make the Amount

• First, give a student an amount of money, such as 23 cents.
• Then have them jump on the coins on the mat that they would use to make 23 cents.
  • e.g the student may jump on two dimes (while skip counting by 10s up to 20). Then, they may jump three times on the penny (while adding 1, 2, 3 to 23) to make 23 cents.
• Then, challenge them to make the amount with as few coins as possible, or not using any quarters for larger amounts, etc.
• Finally, increase the amount of money to be higher and include dollars as students get more practice.
