Give several students a sentence to build, either a statement or a question, by distributing index cards for words that will make a sentence. Have them study the words and then find them on the mat. Have them jump to each word in sequence, labeling it with a sticky note listing its number order and standing by the word. Then have everyone say the sentence, jumping or clapping with each word, directed by the students on the mat. In place of sticky notes, you may substitute posterboard frames (labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) to place around the identified words.
