Play Sight Word Games with our 100 Word Hop
How can educators teach sight words to young students in a fun way? Take a look at the fun sight word activities that are possible on our 100 Word Hop! Playing sight word games for kindergarten has never been so fun and easy.
This large and colorful floor mat includes 100 first sight words for new readers to learn. Each square on the mat features a high-frequency word that children learn early in literacy lessons. This mat will help students recognize sight words, sound out words, and write sight words.
At its large size, the 100 Word Hop has plenty of space for multiple students to interact with it at one time – promoting a collaborative learning environment.
The first sight words to learn can be tricky. New readers may struggle with different types of verbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and pronouns. Add movement into your phonics instruction and watch your students’ learning comprehension and retention improve greatly as a result! They will grow a strong vocabulary of common words as they practice sight words on this mat.
Best of all, play-based learning will keep energetic kids engaged as they compete in a variety of fun games, including sight word twister or sight word bingo. Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students will love to learn sight words!
Made with durable materials, the 100 Word Hop can make a great addition to your classroom for many school years to come. Check out our activity database for more ideas, activities, and fun games for this floor mat.
