Learning fractions can be difficult for young students who just gained an understanding of whole numbers. Our Fraction Walk floor mats and stickers are here to help! Turn tedious math lessons into fun movement-based fraction activities! These floor mats and stickers are suitable for 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade math students.

We offer two versions of the fraction walks as a mat or sticker – Halves and Quarters and Thirds and Sixths. These materials feature numbers one through five with corresponding equivalent fractions in halves and quarters or thirds and sixths on either side. Proper and improper fractions are shown with numerals and symbols. Each mat will capture students’ attention and keep them engaged with their colorful designs.

Materials: Our floor mats are made from heavy-duty vinyl. They are easy to clean, durable, and long-lasting. Some teachers have used their mats for over 10 years! Each sticker is 6.4 mm thick and laminated for extra protection. Our stickers are made with the latest advancements in 3M adhesive technology so applications are easy, quick, and hassle-free.

Sample Activity: Hopscotch the Numbers

Halves & Quarters –

• Have your student start on START HERE.
• Have the student say “one half” while hopping with one foot in the 1/2 box.
• Then have the student jump (with two feet) on the 2/2, clap and say, “two halves.”
• Continue alternating between one foot and two-footed movements to the end of the mat.
• Repeat activity for quarters. Be sure that your student says the fractions correctly. Tell your student the fractions if your student doesn’t know them.

Thirds & Sixths –

• Have your student start on START HERE.
• Have the student say “one third” while hopping with one foot in the 1/3 box.
• Then have the student jump (two feet) on the 2/3, clap and say “ two thirds.”
• Continue alternating between one foot and two-footed movements to the end of the mat.
• Repeat activity for halves and sixths. Be sure that your student says the fractions correctly.
• Tell your student the fractions if your student doesn’t know them.
