Are you teaching multiplication? Our Skip Counting mats are the key to making every lesson understandable and enjoyable. Students take turns jumping down the mat, landing only on the focus multiples, while the rest of the class counts aloud in sync with the student jumping.
To solve a multiplication problem, students start on zero, then jump forward the number of times the focus factor is being multiplied by, landing only on multiples of the factor. The final number that they land on is the answer!
For example, if the class is learning multiplication by 3s, select the Skip Counting by 3s mat. To solve 3×4, the student will start on zero. They jump forward 4 times, landing only on multiples of 3. The final number they land on is the answer, 12!

Moving on to teaching division? Our Skip Counting Mats work for that, too! To solve a problem, the student stands on the dividend on the mat. Then, they jump to zero, landing only on multiples of the divisor. The number of jumps it takes to reach zero is the answer.
For example, if the class is working on division by 4s, select the Skip Counting by 4s mat. To solve 20÷4, the student starts on 20. They jump down the mat four times, landing only on multiples of 4, until they reach zero. The number of jumps, 5, is the solution!
