FAQs About Our Kindergarten Math Materials
Have questions about Math & Movement’s kindergarten learning materials? Below, we answer common questions about implementing our hands-on math activities for kindergarten, caring for floor mats, aligning lessons to state standards, and teacher training.
How do I know how to use the materials?
All Math & Movement kindergarten math materials come with detailed activity ideas that can easily be integrated into your daily lessons. You also get unlimited access to our online activity database, which includes videos and worksheets for teachers to use in their kindergarten lesson plans with our mats.
Do your kindergarten math materials align with state standards?
Yes. Our kindergarten math materials are aligned with several state standards. Visit our State Standards page to view the full details.
How do I clean the kindergarten floor mats?
Although the materials are very durable, you might notice some dirt or scuff marks if students are using them with their shoes on. To clean the kindergarten floor mats, mix a solution of soap and water in a spray bottle. Spray down the materials and wipe with a cloth.
Do I need to use tape to secure the floor mats to the floor? How do I tape them down? What tape do you recommend?
Yes—always use tape to secure the floor mats. Tape the top of the floor mat on the left and right corners. Tape the bottom of the floor mat on the left and right corners. Tape the middle of the mat on both sides of the floor mat. We recommend Scotch 3M packaging tape.
Why is movement so important for learning in young children?
Children love to move—and they need to move. Too much sitting results in decreased circulation and a subsequent decrease in concentration, while certain kinds of movement stimulate the release of dopamine and noradrenaline in the brain, which are important in learning. Movement is like “Miracle Grow’ for the Brain!

Are your materials durable?
We know every penny counts in education, which is why our materials are made to last. Our materials have been found to last up to 10 years with proper care. The durable materials allow students across multiple grade levels and academic years to benefit from movement-based learning. All of our mats are printed on latex-free materials.Â
How do we store our floor mats?
When mats are not in use, we recommend rolling them up. For the larger square mats, folding may be necessary. If you have access to a storage closet or space in your classroom for extra materials, that may be a good place to store the mats.
We have storage options available to purchase here.
We also have created instructions for building your own storage unit.
